About the course
The department offers two undergraduate BSc programs with Biotechnology – CZBt- Chemistry and Zoology and CMBt- Microbiology and Chemistry.
Biotechnology is one of the most progressive areas with beneficial scientific advances over the last 20 years. It is an interdisciplinary field which includes Chemistry, Physics, Biostatistics and others. Biotechnology has emerged as one of the most popular career options among youngsters who want to explore modern aspects of science. Its widespread application can be found across multiple industries like food, drug discovery, pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, chemical industry, production of biochemicals, textiles, environmental conservation and animal sciences.
The aim of the department is to develop an academic and research oriented aptitude among the students.

Vijaya College
Since 1989
Vijaya College, Jayanagar, erstwhile BHS First Grade College took its genesis in July 1989 under the BHS Managing Committee's(now BHS Higher Education Society) holistic awning. What ideated in 1988 germinated and took form in 1989 as BHS First Grade College.
